St Patrick's Cathedral is a Must See!

Back on the tour bus to the downtown area right at rush hour time! This guy on the left in the picture was one our favorite tour guides. He had a nice, thick accent.  "Ladies and yendlemen! But ya know, eets yust my yob!"
Another one of the many Trump Towers
Would you like to wash these windows?
The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. I took this picture for Skeeter Byman, his favorite place to stay when he goes to New York!  Along with President Obama!  Built in 1931 and it was the first hotel to introduce room service.  The hotel has it's own railway platform.  It also has an elevator big enough for a car.  It has many restaurants and boutiques.  No wonder why Skeeter likes to come here!  Kim, you lucky duck!
I think this is the Chrysler building..
 And so the journey continues..
Too bad you can' t hear this traffic...constant honking.

The Met Life had very hard times after 9/11
Next up:  St Patrick's Cathedral.
What a beautiful church!!!!!!
This cathedral is built of brick and clad in marble. It seats 2200 people.

Jen was itching to hear and play the pipe organ...  It's too bad we didn't know about it on Sunday; they have free organ recitals. Would have been fun to hear it.
Here is a link to what it sounds like...sooooo gorgeous!

 Beautiful stained glass....
I think this statue is called Atlas Statue.
Right across from the church and Rockefeller Center.
It is a two ton statue, so no stealing this thing!
Atlas carries the heaven upon his shoulder as a punishment for denying Zeus.
And just as we were exiting out of the cathedral, a protest was going on...

Well, Rockefeller Center will have to wait until tomorrow...
Have a happy Friday!

So much to see!

These pictures are from Battery Park area. Where you can see the Statue of Liberty from the shoreline.

Fun little people, not sure what building they represent.
 And more street food vendors..
Next up is Chinatown. We got off on the non-tourist side.  So we walked in the residential area. Very interesting.  Chinatown is huge.  It's one of the biggest and oldest Chinese area outside of Asia. Estimate 100,000 Chinese people live here.

More pictures later from the night tour from the tourist side of Chinatown.
And hopefully we can find Little Italy!  Looking for a bakery that sells cannoli.
We walked and walked and walked and walked..circles I think. Finally, found Little Italy.  I was surprised it was a small area compared to Chinatown all around it!  The Italian restaurants were irritating, trying to persuade you to come and eat there. We bypassed them all, ha!  Found the cannoli--mmmmm interesting stuff! Another recommendation by Markus---and no I didn't bring a box home!  I forgot to take a picture of it! Too busy eating and enjoying it!

And tomorrow will be the rest of the story...

Adventure on the Double Decker Bus

 New York University---only $40,000 a year.
Funny to see Kmart in the middle of the city.
I love this building...wouldn't it be cool to live here?

I bet they have lovely views?
These are fairly new condos..cool design I think!  Have a million for a condo?

 Love people watching here...

Better shots from the bus of the Trinity Church--see previous blog for details.

I think these were from the American Stock Exchange Building.
Next stop Battery Park.  This is an urban garden. Don't know much more than that!
This is Castle Clinton--America's First Immigration Station. We didn't have time to check this out..next time.
  Statue of Immigrants
...and there she is ...The Statue of Liberty.  We were on a time crunch and decided we were satisfied to see it from the shore. You can take the Staten Island Ferry..it's free..and you can get a closer view.

MORE TO COME.....
