Drenched Rats Continue the Day

Whew! The consulate business only took about a half hour. What a relief.  Now we can relax the rest of the trip.  We were soooo dreaming of a hot shower and nap!  BUT...we did reserve a pass for 9/11 Memorial tour at 1:30 pm and you can't reschedule even in inclement weather! So, we decided to go find Starbucks and get something nice and warm to sip and relax for a bit and then see how we feel!  I think they have a Starbucks on every block!  Ooooh, that hot tea just warmed my bones. It felt just gross sitting in wet jeans! Ugh!  What the dickens, we might as well continue on with the day and be wet.  Off we  go to Ground Zero--can't get much wetter!    On the subway..zip zip....

As we were waiting  to get in, we heard three ladies talking Finn.  Didn't get quite brave enough to say something...almost!  And we were so surprised...  There were so many people there.  It was steady rain.  Of course, had to go through a security check before you go could in. There are two water memorials--one for each tower with all the names of the lives that were lost.  I didn't get a picture of the survivor tree which was the only tree that had survived..it was raining too hard at that point.

The glass building the left, looks flat, is going to be the museum. It was not completed yet.

This was neat. It was right across from the memorial. It is on the wall of the Fire Department that first answered the call.

Tribute to the firemen that lost their lives.

Now this place is something else.  This store was closed for three years after 9/11--it was damaged from the  Twin Towers debris.  It was massive people in there---it would have been fun to shop there longer, but I was so icky wet, the mobs of people and the dampness..was like clausty!!!  It sure would of been challenging trying on clothes when your own clothes are stuck like glue. I did buy a pair of Fossil shoes for $20, normally $80.  It is all designer stuff for awesome prices.   Thanks Markus for the recommendation--I would never gone there otherwise!  One of New York's secrets...

Back to our favorite place --Times Square to have a nice warm supper at Chevys and coffee and donut at Timmy's!!!

Nothing like being back at our hotel early, nice hot shower, and relaxed!

What a day---even though we didn't do too much it felt like a really loooooong day!
Wait until Tuesday...lots more to see and do!
